Displacement texture bleeding through into base colour

Hi all,

Blender 2.82 on Ubuntu 19.10 64 bit.

I have a plane, displaced with a height map. I then have an RGB mixer with two colours set and I’m trying to use a painted texture as mix factor. When I do this my displacement texture appears in my base colour.

Could someone tell me how I managed to get a height displacement texture coming through as a colour? Because I can’t see it for the life of me.



FYI - So the only way I could stop this from happening was to apply the displacement, delete the texture, and then purge orphan data to completely remove the texture from my data. Then it went away.
