Displacement with Nodes?

Hello,
This is sort of a newbie question, but how come when I enable nodes, the “disp” button disappears on the texture panel? I can’t have texture displacement when using nodes? I wanted to use nodes to introduce a cool effect and have texture displacement animated to make a wave-like appearance to a spherical object.

Thanks!
A

As far as I have been able to tell, disp maps can only be aplied to the main material itself without the use of nodes… so basicly, no you can’t use the nodes to introduce a disp map to the material

Images named sequentially. Like image001, image002 etc.

Go to the material editor. Add a texture. Got to texture buttons (f6). Click empty spot. This creates a texture. Above the texture there with be a number like Tex.001 or Tex.013. Remember this number. Click texture type and click image.

Go to load. Load image001. Click the button that says sequence. Hit autorefresh.

Go to editing. F9

Apply a displace modifier to the mesh by clicking in the modifiers tab.

Where it says texture enter the texture name from above ( Tex.001 etc).

If the object is UV mapped click where it says Local and select UV.

Have fun.

This is all just theory though. How it would actually work, I have no idea. I’ve never tried it before.

Let me know how it goes.

Edit:

Now that I think of it, there is something on this here

and the sample blend
