distributed rendering

Hi,

The research lab I am working at has just installed condor on all the machines around here. Condor is a workload management system that distributes jobs around the network. http://www.cs.wisc.edu/condor/description.html
I was wondering if anyone has tried to use condor to distribute render jobs around the network. I know that there is software that does that for you but it requries you to install it on every machine, which is not an option for me.

Anyway, I was just curious if someone out there has tried this.

I’m just guessing here, but I’d imagine you’d at least have to have blender installed on every machine. It kind of sounds like you don’t want to install any software? Just thinking out loud.

There was a mention about a way to render over nodes without installing software everywhere over at the forums at blender.org. I think it was called Quick Render or Quick Blender or something. If I’m not mistaken it is in the rendering forum. Hope I’ve been of some help
