DJ machomaus

100 frame loop, this is a character for a project
(fingers, eyes, ears and mouth will get their set of rvk later)

it will have toon shade, but for now the main question is:
does it (he) feel o.k. - I mean, is he groovy or is there something to fix?

mesh is gonna be (maybe) a bit more optimized
there is something wrong with upper leg, but doesn’t show here

p.s.: I would greatly appreciate any help on these:

(how to get a handle to every single lamp in array and apply different randomised animated stuff to each of them, with separate values for each of them - similar like in flash)

Tedi, looks good, but this is the wierdest DJ stance I have ever seen.

Please don’t be offended; from what I can tell he is spinning/scratching a record with his right hand, which would mean his left hand would be on the crossfader on the mixer.

Usually the mixer sits in the middle between the record decks, so his left hand and arm would be closer to his body. Unless he is already doing this and the mixer and decks are alot larger than the character

As I say please don’t take offense, the work you have done so far is very good. You may already have other plans and I have interpreted it wrongly.

Also if he will be wearing headphones, his ears would be squashed flat against his head.

Keep going, as I think this will be very good when completed.

Sonix.

he’s gonna have 2 decks, and they are modeled as those vintage 1930’s things with horns (pure analog, no electricity.-) - hope this clears your doubts regarding stance.

(this is from Mausland, the another dimension

I started to work on this project again
I am currently having issues with NLA-paths and scripted animation.

website, a bit dated is here
http://users.volja.net/mausoleum
(it was featured at soundtoys, prixArsElectronica and cyNetart, as far as I’ve got confirmed)

and I’ll probably go for similar simplified/stylised look as this one (taken from Stratacafe, not my work), I’ll do lo-res micromovies.

Whoa this is quite a project you have here.

Sorry for interpreting the stance incorrectly, vintage analogue direct drive desks, cool.

I can’t offer you any help with script anims or NLAs :expressionless: as I have never used them in my animations. (Not knowingly if I have  )

Will he have a mixing desk and headphones?

Sonix.

but this wasn’t really a stance - it’s just a test how the skin deforms (there are some nasty’s at the upper leg and I’ve removed almost all redundant verts and triangulated poly’s where needed) and to check out reflections - I wil probably go for un-textured materials or use procedural gradients (borrowed from Lightwave community, there are plenty of resources that can be applied to Blender workflow with minimum of effort) and radiosity.

he’ll have a mixing desk, but one modelled like some industrial gear with plugs and stuff - very fictional …
as for headphones - I wasn’t thinking of giving him some, mainly because of wire animation … if I cook something that’ll work and won’t eat up much cpu cycles, then, maybe …

as for nla&python - nobody seemed to answer my calls, so I’ll be pretty much reading documentation these days

basic problem is: I need efficient solutions and first one to cope with is loudspeaker anim - If I make contiguous mesh separated by materials and want to apply membrane anim, only way is to assign rvk’s and animate their ipo - and I need to find efficient solution to control it via pyScript
