Do Lights (spot,Lamp,Areaetc) work in Blender 2.65 Cycles

Hi Guys,

Ive been playing with a little test scene to learn blender lighting techniques better, But i can’t workhow to lights working.
Ive tried omni, spot lamps, area lamps but even if i turn them up to 6000 power i get no lighting and no shadows. Ive just used my own model area lights for now with aquadratic shader lighting setup but id prefere to be able to use real lights to visual the scene better.

Scene with Mesh light emitter Area lights.

Hi, you need 10000-20000 in dark environments to get a good spot or omni.
I think these are not physical settings, turn as high you need.

Cheers, mib.

They work, but currently area lights are treated as point lamps, hemi doesn’t work as far as I know. It’s best to use mesh emitters in Cycles at the moment, as the dedicated lamps do not yet have multiple importance sampling.
