No, I’ve never read the book of enoch although i’d like too. I’m very interested in ancient tales, especially assyrian/summerian and Mayan. One mayan tale talks about a tall blonde-haired blue eyed man with a staff shaped like a snake visting them shortly before the explosion of their culture and cities. Was this perhaps a satan or some supernatural who gave them such a rapid rise to power, and such brutal pagan rituals, or perhaps simply a recollection of the european priests…?

Yes, exactly. The Hebrew text makes reference to violent, despotic men. The translation recognizes this be referring to such “mighty” men as “giants”: people who are “larger than life”.
The picture on that website shows impacted teeth. I’ve got them too. It happens when the jaw is too small to fit all the teeth. Some get shoved to the back.
I don’t “Believe in” giants, but I believe they existed and still do. Not only did Enoch encounter giants, but Moses’s army did too. I believe what the Bible says, but that’s because I am a Bible beliver. Some belive in evolution, de-evolution, or everything we know of today is all the product of something created long ago before anything existed…Darwinian ape-fish particles or something. I guess if you can belive that man eveolved from ape-fish dna, you could almost belive in a giant.
Great men is not a facetious reference, for even David was called a great man… you’ve got a few of your facts skewed.
I think giants existed, and that intermarriage brought them to normal height. But think about it, if a few tall freaks are born, and marry, and have freaky tall kida, and those kids marry other freaky tall kids, you have the start of a race of tall people. Nothing weird about it, jsut a tall genotype being passed on.
Hence the reason I’ve avoided this discussion, and the reason I’ll now leave.
If you’d read the Bible even passingly, you’d recognize the exact phrase I quoted “mighty men of old, men of renown” as being a common reference to despots scattered throughout the old texts.
However, the word “great” is also used in the same vein. “Great”, “giant”, “mighty”, etc. all refer to ‘men from which legends are made’, and is almost entirely a negative thing when used by the ancient Hebrew writers.
Get yer own facts straight.
Real life is too weird for giants to never exist. And also, although scientist mostly don’t make up stories, some of them do. Those evolution things might be those.
When scientest say that they found ape-men because they have wierd sklls and such, they might just be deformed people. Or just people who look different. Baby’s skulls can be molded.They might have Proteus syndrome. My dad knew a family who he said looked like those ape-people on T.V.
Dunno what’s true or what’s false, but some people just can’t stand being wrong.

Don’t forget up until the last Ice Age alot of animals were big. For example giant Elk, giant Beavers and even giant Wombats as big as hippos. So if the prey was big, why weren’t the predators big, i.e human predators?
As far as hobbits and dwarfs were concerned I didn’t believe them either until last year when those hobbit bones were dug up. Actually in the past I heard of old Aboriginal legends talking about little people about 1m tall called “Brown Jacks” who lived deep in the Australian forests. I never believed them until they found those hobbit bones last year.
The only way to resolve this is that one of you guys has to go into the Australian bush for a week or two, to the place the Aboriginals say they live, and if you’re still alive after a couple of weeks don’t forget to bring back some proof.
In the Bible giants are called Nephilims
If you notice Al, that verse was in genesis chapter 6. The great flood happened in chapter 7. There are giants after that so it would have had to have been genetic, because David and Goliath and what not. Also that verse is interpreted wrong. Sons of God does not mean fallen Angel. Jesus was called the son of man. I think its interchangeable Sons of god could mean men.
yeah - but we also use the word “naphil” to describe giant in hebrew.
anyway so many we’ve got some 25k genes in oure poor genom and it’s enough one of them is not working right to cause such a problem.
All I know is, I have a freakishly large appendage and it had to come from somewhere.
