do your duty!

hey guys, i don’t know if anyone noticed the recent flood of newcomers, but, well, they’re here! this means more questions in ‘blender general’, so if you find yourself twiddling your thumbs, please take a moment to help a noob or two!

sir! yes sir! :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit: and yes, I have noticed, although som of the ones with 3 posts are making much nicer stuff than I do. Must. practice… aarggh!

lol i know what you mean,…the blend is strong with some of them.

yea I dunno it seems b2.37 made alot of long time 3d maker to convert to blender…so they’re all very good o_O lol

I’ll see if I can put some of my free time into blender general…during a render :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s all AO’s and face select’s fault

well to many new noob Q to be answered by me!

but i will try my best

What? again?
I suppose it’s the same thing at each release.
2.4 will be a pain in the a$$

agreed.

Maybe its like a generation like baby boomer and such. This generation can be called the Softbodies (because softbodies is in 2.37)

and the 2.36s (me) can be called the bugfixes, maybe that’s a good idea for the forums. Having ranks for age aswell

i would say some of the newcomer here just have already a good skill in modeling. blender more and more seems to be accepted by freelancers
and other who do not need the overkill from maya.

and since blender is free why not?!

also all the newbies must remeber there is tons of info already written - all you need to do is look for it

Indeed, the online manual, http://www.blender.org/modules/documentation/htmlI/ is your friend

Mystery

yeah, but sometimes you wouldn’t know what to look for. like if youre a noob you set smooth and get black stripes on your model, and you’re like what the heck are these? you wouldn’t know what to look for in the manual. materials maybe? on the other hand if you did a keyword search ( and you did it right ) for ‘black stripes’, and ‘set smooth’ you would probably find the answer pretty quick. seriously though, there should be a huge banner that says ‘the answer is >>>ctrl-N<<<’, or possibly a sticky thread, though we have several of those already.
