Does adding additional geometry to a fluid object influence the sim?

In a Blender fluid sim, does it make any difference if the fluid object has several iterations of subdivision? In other words, will the simple default cube generate the same simulation as one that has been subdivided for additional edges? Note that I do not mean actually applying a subdivision modifier to the cube, just adding additional edges to it.

Easily tested by yourself

Start with a cube (left) vs a subdivided cube (right)

Do the two resulting fluids (below each one) look any different. I think not.

The thing affecting the fluid is the domain resolution
