Does Blender really run to it's full potential on XP?

Blender is very slow in XP compared to the linux system I have running on a seperate partion, and slower than it was when it was running on Me. (The same as with my Search and Rescue3 game) Does anybody know why this is, and does anybody know if Ton and the others are aware of it?

Make sure that your drivers for your video card aren’t made by windows xp. Right-click on my computer, click properties, click hardware, then device manager,. then click the + sign next to display adapters. If at the end of teh driver is a (Microsoft Corporation) thing, then you need to update your drivers, since the microsoft drivers don’t include OpenGl.

I run Blender on XP and it runs very well so i don’t think that that is the problem.

Try running at 16 bit color as well

this system at least WILL NOT run blender at 24 bit (intel integrated card)

i’m on xp too and i don’t have any problems.what i have noticed is that when i play a game with the option “show framerate and profile” enabled,the game runs slower than normal.i don’t know if that’s your problem.other than that,i don’t have problems.

no problems here, blender runs great on my XP

I’m running blender with Xp and it runs well except this little thing is
wrong. Every time I minimize blenders window and re-open it, Blender
crashes… I think it’s my mistake…I think that… of course :-?

The official Nvidia Driver did it!I’d like to thank everyone who posted for getting my career back into gear. I won’t forget all the help Ive been getting.

After I upgraded my video card drivers it worked fine… I have a few problems with it crashing when I select dynamic actors and empties, but that’s okay (I never use empties anway). I also sometimes have trouble with things flashing at me, but that’s all.
