Dog Model

I noticed a pole with 6 faces on the cheek. Any suggestions on getting rid of it?

You should be able to move the vertex of the eye edge loop up, or at least seperate it using either Ctrl + P, or Alt + P - they shouldn’t be joined, just sat on top of each other.

At least, I think - I’m only a beginner myself!

do not put them on top of each other, that is asking for troubles. I don’t think it has to cause too much trouble, most of the deformation would take place above and below it, right? If you can find a way to remove it or at least move it that would be good of course.

I modified the mesh to get 4 separate 5 face poles instead of the two 6 face poles. I’m sure if I like the flow yet.

Here’s an updated view. The references I used had dogs standing in grass so I didn’t model the paws yet.

Nice, I think the body looks pretty realistic in shape but the face and muzzle could do with a bit more. The lower jaw could be thicker and I think he looks a bit too smiley. This will look great when it’s finished.

I was looking for a good reference for a dog’s paw when I came across this website. The site has a pretty good sketch tutorial and follows it with anatomy lessons of people, dogs, cats and horses.

I added feet and tweaked the jaw a bit.

I made some minor tweaks and decided to texture it.

I have been out of the country for a while, so wasn’t getting to this. I’ve added fur. Next step rigging.
