Dogfight style game

Hi forum!

After all the fun I had playing around with blender game engine, I’m taking a stab at a space/dogfighting game.
One of my biggest concerns is disorientation, as I will not be keeping the horizon in forever. So, I want to add an attitude indicator (one of these).


I modeled a ship and gave it simple movement, and I’ve done parenting and vertex parenting to make something that seems to work ok, but it gets out of alignment after little use. Here is the blend file for you guys:

What can I do to make this work? Are there easier ways to do this? Are there any simple ways to make movement feel more natural? Any advice is appreciated.
