I will eventually release demo videos/the intro video-to-be on my youtube channel.
This is a game that I originally began when I first started experimenting within Blender, so version 0.0 is my first attempt at a game and is largely unfinished. The modeling and graphics level is also minimal. I more recently took on the role of remaking what I had already done into a more proper game for one of my friend’s birthday, as in the credits. Given his monitor’s low graphics card, I specifically had to make this game using only blender multitextures (which was quite annoying…). The first release of this improved version, what I had finished by the date of my friend’s party, is what is seen in version 0.5; it is an alpha release, and hence is largely unfinished, but all the gaming mechanisms are there for single player mode.
As for later versions, I will update specific notes for each version as I add them. I don’t know how often I will update the the version for it will mostly be on the behalf of my own amusement to eventually complete the game, so I’m making no promises.
v0.0:
The different starting passwords for level 1 are: “~PWC”, " Qwerty" (with the space), and “Moo-Ack!”.
After you complete level 2, you are sent to a scene which I was experimenting with before making any of the game, you will have to press esc to close the program at that point.
v0.5:
Developer keys:
(These are keys to initiate functions that have been added into the game but have not been reachable with the present controls or interface; they work at any point once the main menu has been reached for the first time, but once the key is turned ‘on’, it cannot be turned off unless the program is closed and re-opened)
hold [1] and then press [tab] = single player mode with two players
hold [2] and then press [tab] = single player mode with two players, upgraded car, HUD not adapted for two players
press [3] = viewing in 3d stereoscope, for cross-eye viewing; HUD not adapted to support this viewing
Notes:
Multiplayer, options, intro screens, and video scenes not set-up/created yet.
Save script not yet added, which means all unlocks lost upon closing the program.
Only three levels completed, but from this point, adding new ones is easy as all scripting kinks have been fixed aside from the above
I need to make the loading screen for each level disappear only after the timer & enter /any key has been pressed, else controls won’t up long enough to be read.
I also want to find a way to give the user the startup option of fullscreen or not, but I’ve had little success in finding information about this.
I’ve not yet added a mac version/not sure I will from this point on: There seem to be something within the scripting that makes the file very unstable on the OS X platform
I’m up for any criticism on really any part of the game itself, modeling etc. but to be honest, I’m not going to have the energy to go through any major structural changes at this point because I want to spend more of my time working in other projects, game design or otherwise.
Happy gaming!
