im modelling Donald Duck’s car i aim for 2 images, realistic one with shiny colors and catroon like one, ill be posting my progress in this thread.
here is my progress so far.
i have a question to start with, which approach you think is better, should i make the car’s body as a whole in 1 mesh or should i separate it into parts.
thanks Robert for your feedback, i continue this way by making it as separate parts.
here is my current progress, i didnt smooth the front cause i dont like how it looks when its smoothed and when i apply a subdivision surface or multires modifier some vertices at the bottom of the front goes crazy, somehow vertices are moved slightly to the back so it appears as if its a bump.
Quite good. Make the grille a lot sharper. More edge loops!
And maybe lose the “lamp holders”. Just make the lamps bigger and attach them straight to the car body.
The body/tires could be a bit less round overall.
Thanks IconW for your reply, i agree the grill doesnt look good, ill try to make it sharper, ill try to remove the holders and see how it looks.
for the tires, im trying first to get the cartoon look then ill be shifting toward the reasonable tire look next.
Definitely separate everything in their own parts. Like grille, bumpers, front hood, body and seat.
Here’s some wire’s and ideas how you can do the grille.
Sorry. Had to model and render some pieces as I have read Donald Duck comics all my life.
that’s one awesome mesh :D, i confirm im separating every mesh on its own, except the grill and motor are the same mesh.
ill try to follow your way of creating the grill, it looks neat.
