can u link me to a tutorial that teaches you how to do that w/ planes? to make them take on the shape of the uv?
I don’t know if there is one?!? I could maybe write one if I find the time. It’s basically textures on planes but with the alpha enabled so you can see behind them?!? I don’t know if that helps?
One minor thing though, at some points the animation could be snappier (camera moves, character appearing in shots,…). It would make it even more enjoyable.
That’s interesting. I was thinking that maybe it was a bit too snappy?!? The guy pops in and out and up and all over the place. Next time I’ll really go to town!
It does look it was done on Flash, actually more like Moho! (woe…)
I don’t know what moho is but some of the animations were done in Flash and then mapped to the planes as a sequence of images. I did it in Blender and not Flash because of Blenders superior animation controls and ability to render motion blur. I know you can achieve motion blur in Flash but you have to add tweening effects to all your movie clips instead of just clicking a button!
BLENDER RULES!
very well done. I love how you did the eyes. I’d like to see a tutorial or example for how you did them, it’s really impressive.
What do you mean about the eyes? To get them to blink and look left/right I would make three planes… one looking left, one blinking and one looking right. I would then animate them to and from the layer I was rendering (swapping them over). You could also do this in Flash, render the sequence and map the sequence to the plane.
Thanks for all the comments!
