Don't be a sucker like me

I will never buy a notebook again (even though I need one). Nothing gets depreciated most than a notebook, or costs as much! And they are virtualy unupgradable except for a few gimmics.
Not to mention no pro would ever use one for rendering! And I read calibrating a notebook is silly, due to the fact thy dont use a CRT and change just on your slight perspective!

Well i use a fixed-frequency monitor basically because they are cheap
and becuse most tubes come from Sony they have those “wires” in them
and it doesn´t really bother me.
i suppose it´s the payback for a Big( 21’ +)
and cheap (100 Euro’s / $) Monitor but there again they are a really sharp
picture and the Colours are great
wouldn´t want anything else
you have to really look to find good ones now though if you do find one cheap make sure it has 5 bnc connectors on the back and not 3 this means it has V+H Sync

All aperture-grille monitors have those wires. They are used to hold the grille up infront of the screen. You can get used to it, and the diffrence in sharpness is incredible.

Well, looks like my monitor is on the blink now…

Every so often the screen goes a lovely shade of pea green.
Have to waggle the videocable at the back of the monitor, and it fixes it.

Think i’ll have to get a new monitor (and keep this one spare…)

Yay! Shopping!

Sometimes you can find a good deal on a very good used monitor. I had to replace a monitor for my Mac, and I found one at a local electronics repair shop - it was an Apple 17" Studio Display, and it cost me only $150. So far, I have absolutely no complaints.

Hello everyone!

I just got a new monitor this Monday (UTC) and have been very pleased with
it. I highly recommend the Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2070SB-BK to anyone
looking for a new large CRT monitor and has desk space to spare. It has
a viewable area of 406.1 mm by 304.6 mm. The only possible down
side is it has two HD-15 inputs instead of at least one 5xBNC input.

I was also looking at the Sony GDM-F540 but could not justify doubling the
price to drop from 0.24mm to 0.22mm dot pitch. My monitor has an
apature grill CRT so it does have those two thin lines, but I don’t mind
them. It uses the same picture tube as the NEC MultiSync FP2141SB-BK
monitor, but supposedly has better electronics.

You can find a picture of my monitor below:

Well, I bought an AOC 17 inch monitor.

Only problem is that the middle portion of the display is very slightly blurred…

:x

Think i’ll phone the shop where I bought it, and see if I can get a replacement…
