Please note that while Blender is certainly fine to use for the competition, it is not a Blender specific competition. (You can scan in a pencil drawing or use macaroni if you really want to.) This means that you can do half in Blender, half painted, use any combination of open source or commercial renderers and any / all tools that you feel comfortable with. Completely up to you, the artist.
If you feel the deadline is a little tight, fear not. There are certainly more competitions to come and I’ll try to be a bit more on the ball posting about them here.
The other thing to make note of in case it is not clear - the Double Happy Rabbits website is taking care of the competition so please don’t post your entries in this thread. Not that I don’t want to see them, they just won’t be seen by the judge.
Feel free to post questions though and I’ll do my best to get the answers.

Brief version of the Brief
Your challenge is to probe the dark sectors of your mind to seek the image of destruction that is the Great Metal Rabbit and create an illustration that captures its unrelenting malice and ill intent on the isles of the Ancients.
Thanks for those who participated, will keep you posted about future competitions. There is also a newsletter that people can subscribe to if they like with information about other competitions and details about the project.

The fourth Double Happy design competition is a combined art and writing challenge. The art is the front of your own postcard design and the writing is your message from the Isles of the Anicents. The winning entry will score an intuos 4 medium!$448 RRP
THE BRIEF
The Isles of the Ancients. Not necessarily always the most idyllic place for a holiday…but Pink and Blue do tend to bring the ‘holiday’ with them, wherever they go. ‘Wish you were here’ is a platitude we hear so often, but in the case of Pink and Blue their thoughts are ‘Wish you were here…oh wait, we are both here…Hooray!’
What better way to celebrate the ‘being here, wherever that is’ than a lovely postcard.
Choose one of the Isles, and do a bit of reading before you get underway. There is a range of environments through the islands, so you are sure to find something to your taste. Design either a Oolark or Shyala from the island of PHAROS and you could win prizes, gain production credits and get feedback on your work from industry professionals.
Floating deep within the Chimaeran Sea is the corrupted island of Pharos. Now infected by The Infinite Sadness, this once bright land has now become dark and grim.
The Totem of Light has been shrouded from this world by the Oolark to use for their own selfish ends and this once forested island now lays in rot and decay, the inhabitants struggling for survival. The Shyala - a once proud and noble race - now scavenge amongst the swamplands while the Oolark holed up in their fortified city, farming electrically charged bugs known as Glitzers to power their equipment, weapons and vehicles. They often send raiding parties into the wilds to hunt and loot, enslaving the Shyala and sending many species of their world to extinction.
THE BRIEF
Give us your interpretation of an Oolark or Shyala to be in with a chance to win. Use 2D or 3D, coloured or black and white, pencil or digital paint. We don’t even mind if you use paper mache, a photo montage or even make a costume! Just do whatever you must, to prove that your idea is THE BEST!
