As for the 3d work, superb for a first pic. There are some minor rants about some textures and the brakes looking like sheets of ornamental paper, but the modelling looks nice to me. Maybe work on the lighting.
That aside, it is the weirdest design I’ve ever seen. Not sure if it would work or not, and mind you, I’m no biking newbie. Is that a real bike you referred to or a concept? Looks cool either way
I spent hours with the lighting and couln’t get the chrome/aluminum parts to show up right. Either they are flat grey or then they burn into white. Any suggestions how to get a real metallic shine to objects?
Come on, if you’re not a biking newbie then you should know It’s a Balfa BB7 2002 model with Marzocchi Monster T '03. I modeled it after my own bike and it is one of the best downhill suspension designs I’ve ridden. Check out www.balfa.com
very cool! although i preffer the Yeti AS-X, its very cool…
it could use some more work on the gearing… the sprocket doesnt seem quite right… looks too big… and the chain looks hoopty
EDIT>> love the forks, i want those drools
i havent ridden one of those, is it really that sick? you own one? hows it do on big drops? i wanna get the yeti, its fun, i might also get a Foes, any suggestionS?
http://www.ualberta.ca/~nwy/blender/blender_tut1.htm that explained some envmapping metal basics to me quite well
Only to justify myself, I don’t ride downhill, but cross-country [extreme]. That’s something between newbie mountainbiking and pretty hardcore cross-country. And I ride a heavily modified Trek 4300, so I don’t know much about downhill bikes.
Now, what I meant earlier [explained]:
brakes - they seem very flat to me, give them some depht, I think you modelled the brakes with a curve, but didn’t set the ext1 and ext2 values in editbuttons.
lighting - it is a bit difficult ot see the handlebars and saddle. Why not start work on an environment?
Nice work! My advice is to change the black background to bright white or something at least a bit brighter, because the bike is completely dissolved in the background at the top. Make it stand out more clear.
