Dr. Broc character

Hi everyone. I got a chance to get involved with a bit of Blender work for a client that I can show here. I hope you like it.

It’s a broccoli character for the website PursueAHealthyYou.com giving advice for a healthier lifestyle.

It was completed on a tight schedule so there are some minor flaws that will be apparent to the trained eye.

The client is a really nice man who through the process of making this character convinced me to begin taking vitamin D. Something my grandmother has failed to do for many years.

well done!

Terrifying! Reminds me of an episode of Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace. Nicely done!

He should be called Dr. Floret btw.

you are very skilled sir. its very inspirational

haha very nice! great stuff! 5*s from me

Great work. Like his pants shoes, neck and hair. I would have set different iris though. A bit more complex since people mostly look at the eyes of the character.

BTW: I am not a physician, but taking Vitamin D is not recommended unless you have some medical issues. Vitamin D is synthesized by absorbing the Ultraviolet rays from the sun. Your body will make the amount that it needs. Vitamins A,D,E,K are lypo-solubles crystals meaning that they dissolve in FAT, meaning that your body can’t get rid of any excess, Different thing occurs for the rest as C, B complex etc called Hydro solubles crystals that dissolve in water, so you body get rid of any excess throughout the urine. Too many UI of Vitamin D may not be advisable.

Great work, the body shape is excellent.

Sorry to go off topic here but this is all well and good if you live in a climate where UV rays provide all the vitamin D you need. In colder climates (like Scotland where I am), supplementing the diet with natural boosters such as cod liver oil is recommended. And besides, it is very hard to overdose on vitamin D.

the almighty m.h.p.e. !!! it’s great to see you’re still an active blender user!

nice work here, i hope to see stuff from you more often

Well cold climate does not mean you are not receiving UV rays ! Unless you spend your life indoors the whole year, that would be an exception.

Anyways it is out of topic , but getting overdose of Vitamin D depends of how many UI you take per day…Said by doctors not by me. The body need just a little Units per day, getting more than that your body can’t get rid of it, storing it in you body fat bringing up side effects. Anyways you can do what you think is right for you, no biggies. Just a side note about taking Vitamin D.

Cheers

Thanks for the nice comments everyone.

About vitamin D, the research on this seems to be pointing in many directions. I do live in colder a northern climate and, admitted, I don’t spend as much time outside as I could, so I guess vitamin D overdose isn’t that possible. But again, I’m no expert.

why the argue about vitamin D? this isn’t a health thread as far as i know! :stuck_out_tongue:

one crit though that i just noticed: the eyes are too perfect. too round (if thats possible… maybe just too big) and almost as if you clicked ‘shadeless’ in the materials panel. oh and the pupils are HUGE!!! especially as he is in this white environment (yes, i know its just a background, but still) the pupils should be quite small
