Drag & Drop Parenting in the Outliner

Some time ago I read (in one of these forums) of a script (add-on?) that allowed drag & drop parenting and un-parenting in the outliner. However I found it required some developer skills I don’t have in order to add the feature to the Blender code.

Question: is there any hope that this will be added to Blender some day - hopefully soon?

Thanks, Richard. That’s great news except that I don’t know how to deal with a “patch”. I’m not sure what I’m looking at with your link. How do I activate this feature or where can I read about it? I’m working in 2.63.

It’s in the 2.63 release version and doesn’t need activated. Make sure you click and drag the icon immediately to the left of the objects name in the Outliner while in Object mode.

Thanks John Malcolm 1970. That was the trick - clicking on the small icon. It works great.
