lol it cracks me up when people say “rule of thumb”. Did you know that refers to when men were aloud to beat their wives with a stick no larger than their thumb? That was the rule of thumb. It doesn’t make me mad or anything I was just informing you. (thats why i dont use that saying)
anyway sorry for being off topic.
Maby to make the front paws not look so odd you could lower the torso and spread the arms.
Far be it from me to go against anything our resident dragons (and enthusiasts) have to say, but I just found this while searching the interwebs and thought of this thread. Maybe it will be helpful in some of the muscle placement.
Yeah, that image is rather old… and not very biologically or physically thought through. It’s a prime example on how it should not be. Funny how people send this image into the field all the time as reference for a natural design whereas it is a prime example of an unnatural/broken design.
@asian.monkey:
“Rule of thumb” is equivalent to the German saying “Daumenregel”. It’s the common wording for a rough estimation of something. It’s rather moronic to attack people for a potential different meaning in a different language. So please leave that crap at home, 'k?
It’s a long time since last time. I have had a long pause from this project, but a little while back I decided to take up this dragon once again. But when I looked at the design/picture I had made for about a year ago, something just didn’t seem right. Because of this I decided to recreate the design of my dragon. The new design can be seen below.
So what do you think about the new design?
PS: this project is a side project, so it’s gonna take som time.
wow, you really changed it there didnt you
it looks awesome, only the fur on the chest and tail bother me.
the chest fur makes it look like his neck just stops, and his tail looks too thick
A small update again. I’m not done with the propotions yet, but I thought I would post, what I got anyway. I’m not that great at anatomy, so if I’m doing something wrong, then I would realy appreciate it, if someone told me
PS: and yes you’r right I have changed it a lot, but I think it’s better this way. I hope you think the same mistermaster
Here is a small update on the concept/design. I have changed the hands and feets, and extended the arms. The reason for this, is because I want it to be able to run on all four legs/arms, which basically will be how, it moves around. I also wanted it, to look a bit more realistic.
I’m still thinking about some sides of the charecter, wgich is it’s the enviroment it’s going to live in, but at the moment I’m thinking of a place like a step.
I got a question: which animal(s) would you suggest I look at, for anatomy? I would realy appreciate this, because I realy want this dragon/thing/animal to look realistic, and I know the anatomy is very important to accomplish this
Need has balance the head and the body size , i think your legs are strange too wide . looking your character i can say looks more like a dinosaur leg .
Your chest need more definition , i can’t see it there . well i hope to see more .
I haven’t made any big changes, but I have made a quick rigging, so I could see how it would look like if it were on all four. It turned out, the back legs where way too big (long), and because of this, I made them shorter.
But when I look at it on all four, it just doesn’t look right (or is it just me?). So because of this I have come to wonder, if it at all should travel on all four, or just walk around on it’s back legs, but I don’t know.
Then to another topic. I have looked at different animals anatomy, around on the internet, but I still cant figure out how I shall define (or whatever it is called) the torso/belly/back, because I think it just doesn’t seem right, or is it just me?
I have put up a picture that shows a before (1) and afte (2).The picture where it’s on all four, it’s with the short legs.
