This is the first time I’ve started using my new wacom for anything serious and wanted to start with a little practice at making a scene.
First off I drew this scene
So I start colouring the scene and I get this (the mountains should be a bit bluer but I’m overall pleased with them for the time being).
But no matter how hard I try the lines on that building aren’t at all straight, and fine details just look crap.
For something like the above which has lots of smooth lines, I would have less of a problem recreating it, but for like what I would like to do below which has lots of smooth areas and straight edges
Any tips, example pictures and tutorials I could learn off of please?
For sharper details make use of the magnification on whatever program you are using, it is much easier to paint the smaller details at higher zoom levels. As for straight lines you can use a straight line feature (eg: Gimp hold ctrl, rem to take off presure sensitivity first).
You should improve at the straight lines over time as I’ve found that using a Wacom is quite different from using traditional media, and takes some adjustment. If you are really stuck you could use a ruler! (still works)
On the scene:
The monorail carriage looks a bit off, as does the perspective of some parts of the scene, the rest looks good enough to paint over.
Keep at it! The first time will take longer and be more difficult, but you will learn a lot of technique for next time.
