dreaded character ( final.. )

im getting the hang of this style of modelling now

whats wrong with the face ya’ll reckon?

its based on this image i drew once and then painted in the gimp

It’s that the lower lip needs to be pulled back a bit, so it is overlapped by the upper one more. common problem.

better?

cool character, I speacialy like the hair…cant wait to see more.

i like that style !!!

heya keep on blending it !!!

hmm… i will have to think about a body. not quite sure how to dress him

Love the guy. He looks dark and malevolent without necessarily being evil. The hair is really cool and I love the way his face is all angular.

As far as clothes go I would give him a red shirt with no sleeves, black silky or leather looking pants. He should probably be wearing boots. He might need some gold bracelets, rings. or arm bands.

I think he would make an excellent Voodoo priest.

omg free mars - i can see him perfectly now!

thanks!

getting on with the body. the colar will turn into a shirt but ive removed it for the moment.

dont know whats happening with the hair - i did something and now its got those black marks on. i dont think its vertex paint. it doesnt render anyway.

He reminds me of Elric of Melniboné by Michael Moorcock. If you don’t know who that is, ask your favorite Goth.

crits please

Does the Spec need to be turned down a little on the jacket?

yes i think so too. im gunna finish the body and add some basic trousers then start on materials and details.

im not convinced anymore to use the toon shader or not. the hair is very nice toon shaded and i dont think ill get better results with anything else ( unless i wait for beast? ) but i think the rest might work without toon shading…

Interesting stylisation. He looks like from some comics.
But I’ve a qestion (probably not for you, but someone can help maybe). Isn’t that a mistake to create the hairdo in such pose? I mean if it’s not better to make it in a “calm” state and change it later using an armature?

This is one of the most original characters I have seen posted on this forum.

Great modelling.

i reckon - i dont think i shall ever animate him, i have learnt lots and i hope to finish him but there are many things i should of done but only now know. i may however put some armatures in the arms to get them into a better pos.

Thanks BgDM! im very pleased how the body turned out as i have never tried this sort of thing before and didnt have a reference like the face.

the blend file is in my blender directory if anyone wants it.

That looks really great!!
Top class toon shading there!

maybe it is modeled for a still. so no need for armature if he can medel it directly in motion.
sure it is limitative cause the character will always be used as a still.

it is mostly because of badly formed meshes that would not deform well. the next model i do will be much more technically correct hopefully.

still - i want to finish him. animations take too long anyway
