I want to make rectangles switch from smooth to a point with a little switch-like bone/IK bone. I’m new to most things in blender, and have very little experience to drivers and bones. I looked at bendy-bones, but they seemed to just bend either the first or last part of the rectangle mesh. I want to control all of it, and mainly the center.
If you don’t understand exactly, I want to know how to make a driver, or IK bone to smooth or sharpen the bend of two bones on the mesh. If it’s sharp, then it will look like 1 90 degree angle. If it was curved, then it would bend the angle to look more like a rainbow-shape.
You can use Shapekeys to alter the mesh from tight bend to radiuses bend. Or you can use scaleable bones, or even a Scaleable IK chain to shrink the radiuses bend down to a tight corner. I can probably make a mockup of this later on today, too busy just now!
If I’m understanding what your wanting to do …
just animate sharp bends into smooth bends…
why not simply use the Bevel modifier…
and key frame the ‘width’ value field…
I want the bend to stay, but the rounded corners and edges to go. I’m also not sure what’s up with the kink in the arm, as wee as the scaling when I move the bones.
