dropping object into water...

Hey all,

Been trying to drop an object into water.

I have the domain and the fluid but what do I have to do to get the object to drop into the fluid?

I’m on 2.63 and have been looking for tuts/directions/guidance but can’t seem to find anything for so simple an animation. Either I’m looking…poorly or I need help!

Thanks in advance.

Richard.

Thanks so much for the assist. The file in that thread was very helpful.

One quick question. When I set up the domain and fluid the fluid renders out not quite to the dimensions of the fluid poly. It’s somewhat smaller and rounded at the corners. Is there a setting I need to tweak so the fluid is full dimension?

Thanks again.

Increasing the resolution will get a better fit but your bake times will increase and ram useage will increase until you need a resolution that will take an eternity to bake unless blender crashes first. If there is a gap between the fluid and fluid container, shrink the container after you have baked the fluid so it just touches the fluid.

The fluid sim is a fake so you have to fake it further to overcome its shortcomings.

Thanks again, Richard.
