Hi, my daughter asked me for a drums kit since a while, unfortunately I don’t have enough space in my house, so waiting for a solution, I decided to model one … she is not so happy with that
So here is the model :
The drums kit has been entirely modeled with Blender.
The beater (I don’t know if it’s the right word ) has been made with DazStudio (Michael 3) and imported into Blender. I then used the Vector Blur compositing function to get the motion with the internal renderer.
The scene has been rendered with Yafray using GI, two renderings have been overlaped, one using the GiQuality settings and the second without.
Some Post-pro with Gimp
The main issue was the lighting, mainly on the drums kit.
there are a number of strange things about this picture though
for starters, the quality of the picture at the bottom looks like one your your crystal clear shiny yafray renders you do so well adn the further up you go the more styalised the picture becomes towards a cartoon (a high quality cartoon if its any concelation)
you’ve used vector blur for the drummers motion and the drumsticks motion but i think you could have portrayed the movement of those without the blur and acheived more in the stance and the body language of the drummer (i dont think i could do that but i think you can)
also the textures on the simbles seem… different somehow the rest of the drumkit, cant quite point my finger on why though
edit* oh yes there’s something going on with those reflections around the face which definately do not fit in
I made some improvements to get a most homogenous feeling between to top and the bottom parts. I also increased the red dominance. The oversized feeling for the drummer is intentional, I got this result on a photo shot and liked it.
