Here is a model I’ve been working on for a couple of weeks now - I think the modelling’s pretty much finished. Tell me if I’m wrong. What do you think of the reflective textures BTW?
Good attention to detail. The problem im finding with this is that the wheels don’t look as if they are attatched to the bike. You’ve also got to keep a close eye on the quality of the body shell. Perhaps it needs to be subdivided a little or maybe even just a higher SubService value.
Be sure to publish a picture of the bike fully textured with a suitable ENV map. Should look great then.
The start of the shadows look a little weak. Try lowering the Bias value in the Lamp Buttons (F4).
Sorry, don’t mean to be so suggestive. It’s just that I can’t help but see some good potential. Keep going and good luck.
haha, cool, i luv that bike, but my dad would never let me ride a street bike, but dirtbikes are cool, im fairly familiar with the bike, and the rear wheel isnt attached, its supposed to be attached on 1 side, bot through the tire! lol
shadows with weak bases are a result of the spot clipping incorrectly adjuted.
adjust the clipping values of your spot so that the start is just before your closest shadow-casting mesh and the end is just beyond the farthest tip of its shadow.
this allows for greater precision in the shadow maps, and reduces the fading at the base of the shadow.
umm… I can’t give a tutorial as such, but I can tell you how I got this far -
I went to bikepics.com and got a nice picture of a ducati from the side;
I then traced around all the shapes;
Made them 3d by using other reference pics and extruding in the right direction;
And added reflective textures! Simple!
Great work, Thor! Good proportions and modeling!
Just watched Matrix Revolutions yesterday and thought of modelling the Ducati - Daunting task, at first! Great bike, isn´t it?
I think the exhasuts narrow a bit in the very end.
