Dumb question about disappearing menus

Hi all,
Remember you’ve been warned that this is a dumb question.

I’ve been using a lot of other graphics programs for years (Adobe CS especially.) But the interface for Blender, as some may have noticed, is really something else. There’s only so much trouble you can get yourself in with PS, AI, AE, etc., by pressing the wrong thing, moving a menu, etc. But it’s REALLY easy to get lost here. I have gone through more than one book (including Blender Foundations), trying to figure out what happened and how to get out of it.

Basically, here’s what it is: I have five copies of one window, and I can’t figure out how to close 4 of them. Not only that, but I can’t seem to get back a window that has the File command on the top. Here’s a handy screenshot:

All help appreciated!

Merge adjacent windows by RMB on border and select Join or drag the corner triangles

To get top menu back change the window type to Info

Thanks so much for your help! I found the Info window. Yay. However, the windows seem to be multiplying on their own. Here’s a screenshot of what I mean:

I’ll press the RMB when the double-headed arrow shows up, choose Join, and then… even more windows seem to show up. It’s kind of like the endless marching brooms that overwhelmed Mickey in Fantasia. Any ideas?
