Need some help how can I make a duplicate group for my rigged character.
For animation I need a lowres group and for rendering I want to choose the normal high res group for the same character.
I know how to set the character to lowres but how can I make two groups and switch between them.
To create group press ctrl+G, and name it, bare in mind that the object selected while creating a group will be added to that group. And last to add all the others objects to the active group press ctrl+shift+G. Make one for lowres and one for highres.
Sorry do not understand what should I select my character with the rig and then Ctrl+G and name it.
And what should I then select to make a lowRes group for the same character.
Just copy the character by selecting everything and hitting SHIFT+D, that should copy everything that is selected. Once you press SHIFT+D don’t press anything, you’ll see that just by moving your mouse you’ll move your duplicated group of objects or character in this case. Now, if you wan’t you can press M, a small rectangular window will open then press 2. This will transfer the duplicated group to the second layer of your blender file. Note that as son as you do that the mesh will “disappear” it won’t be gone though, you just need to press number 2 to shift to the second layer of your blender file. You transit through your layers by pressing numbers on the keyboard. Now you can change the resolution of your character in the second layer.
Now, if this didn’t help you, please upload your file here on the forum and I’ll gladly make a video of this process.
Ok copy and move the character objects to another layer for lowRes. Thanks
