Duplivert Jitter

Hey guys.

Anyone know a way to impart a random (or random appearing) up-axis rotation to dupliverted objects? I have thousands of them, but they all line up far too perfectly to be acceptable in the image.

Failing that, is there a “jitter script” that I could use to jitter the rotations of regular objects?

Jahka’s particle patch is the answer to all life’s problems. :stuck_out_tongue:

I would like to avoid using particles - does the patch address duplis?

Ok, I’m using 2.43 here. There’s a fairly recent addition Duplifaces. If you add a little noise to the underlying mesh you can have the randomness you’re looking for.

To jitter the parent mesh I use a random falloff with Proportional edit and moved a vertex a little.

I’m looking for rotation variation around the normal, not variation of the normal. Changing the face angles (as per your suggestion) does the latter.

ok - I ended up using uselessdreamer’s object jitter script on the z axis after making duplis real.

All right. Sounds good.
