Dusk Scene

This is a scene that I’m working on, but it still has a lot of kinks to work out of it. I already know that the transformation from the dirt to the grass is too sharp, but aside from that what else do you think needs changed?

wow, i remember when i was at the same stage as you are now…

i would reccomend using a blueish sun lamp for moon light, ambient occlusion to fake bounce light, a hemi for very faint fill light, and yellow-orange lights from the building, with inverse square falloff, and a half distance of something about like the distance from the edge of the roof to the ground.

then, tweak, tweak, tweak…

the ground should have no specular, and the grass should be slightly more brownish.
you could also try using an image of grass to vary the color of the grass.

the modeling looks great!

if you haven’t watched the blenderguru grass tutorial, do so.

I took your advice on those things (I thought it looked pretty good {thanks for the advice}), and here’s how it turned out:
