DXF appears very oddly in viewport

I have a large DXF file that I can sucessfully import into blender
(no error messages, etc). When I look through the viewport at
it though, it is as if the model was centrally lit by a thick plane of light.
I can only see the part of the model that is bisected by a plane
that I can’t see and didn’t put there. I can see other bits of the model
illuminated that aren’t along the plane but I can’t figure out how
to describe where they are in relation to the plane. Strangely enough,
if I the view around the model the plane of illumination moves with
the viewport and I can see different parts of the model.

I’ve looked through the forum archives and no one has described
anything like this. I tweaked the lighting and fiddled with the ClipEnd
setting as a preview forum article suggested but no results as yet.

I don’t know how important your scale is, but this sounds to me like your model is too big for the viewport to render in its entirety. If you hit Shift F7, as its sounds like you’ve done, you can only adjust the camera range to 1000. If your model is bigger than this, you’ll only see parts like you’re describing. I’m not familiar with imporing DXF files, but I have witnessed what you’re talking about, at least I think I have, and the only solution I can give is to scale down the drawing until you can see the whole thing. Hope this helps.
