DXF import option does not exist?

Hi folks,

I need to import DXF files into my blender scene. But whatever I did, I couldn’t find the DXF import option which should be placed in IMPORT menu as a rituel(!). So I searched for tutorials in incase Blender could have another option but no, it says it is in the import menu.

I tried to download the latest version from blender.org (2.55) but anyway it did not work.

I just have these options:
COLLADA
Motion Capture
3DS Studio
Wavefront
Lightwave Point Cache

What could be the problem?

2.55 is beta, and so not finished regarding its content and scripts.

Use Blender 2.49b instead, it has DXF import/export.
And from there, if you really need 2.55 for your scene, just export the DXF you imported in 2.49b, into a format that is importable in 2.55

Thanks for your explantion Robsoie. This means I need to wait for a advanced import option.

In the mean time, I found a “simple” DXF import script for 2.5x. Site says it works well with 2D objects except blocks etc. which has hierarchies.
