Dynamic Paint Sim Stops Working When

Having a problem with a dynamic paint sim that stops working when I try to change the frame bracket it’s active in.

It works completely fine when I have the sim frames set at 1-250, but if I try to move it forward to frames 2500-2750 for example, the paint canvas just stops reacting to the particles that are painting it.

I am changing the frame brackets in the particle emitter, dynamic paint canvas and scene settings, and making sure the bake cache is clear - but nothing seems to work.

I feel like I’m just missing some simple thing, like a 4th area in which I need to adjust the frame bracket…any ideas?
