Ear to the Ground | Still Life

Hey there Blender Community!
I found some time and created a new project Blender. This one was very interesting as I used different efficient techniques for modeling, including a whole bunch of modifiers.
Feel free to ask me anything about the process, to give your critique or just leave your comment.
But regardless thank you for dropping by and have a nice day :slight_smile:

Looks incredible!

verry nice work , what material have you used for the cables ?:eyebrowlift2:

Amazing. Congrats!

Thank you for the kind words :smiley:

@Benny G:
The cable material is actually quite basic (I use this kind of setup on almost every dielectric material):

Just a diffuse and a glossy shader with a bumpmap. The “DustOverlay” is a premade node group by me which adds a dust film on top of areas facing up. Here are some different states: the textile texture after the colorramp, the DustOverlay and the final material:

The most important thing about the cable material is the subtle hair system, which is just a basic hair system of really short hair with a little bit of roughness. The hair is very thin and its material is like the cable’s (no bumpmap + translucent shader mixed to the diffuse). Here is without and with hair:

I hope my explanation is clear:confused:

Outstanding images, Simon. Careful attention paid to the detail. Great stuff on your ArtStation page as well. Good work!

Thanks a lot :smiley: Ye, adding in and fine-tuning details is what I enjoy the most in the process. Glad you like my other works as well :slight_smile:

Wow… - wow!!! Certainly warrants still life title; would have thought (the third especially) was photos, they’re that good!!! Amazing:D
