Earth Animation Shows Ripple Effect?

After finishing my planet Earth project, I decided to render a 2-minute animation just for kicks. Here’s a low-quality copy of the start of the animation. If you look closely, you can see there is a strange ripple effect on Earth as the camera approaches it. Why does this occur? Does it have to do with the Vector Blur effect? Here’s a link to the .blend file, in case that helps (there’s no animation in this copy of the file):

Blue Marble Blend

I’ve tried searching the support forum, but haven’t found anything that even comes close to helping. I really don’t know what to search for, either.

Could this just be an issue with MipMaps and or Interpolation on the image textures?

I am guessing it’s the way the texture was UV mapped. I have seen this quite often in blender games.
