I’m wanna work on getting the realism right.
If you check out this link of a NASA true colour image of earth you will see that the atmosphere/blue haze still appears when coming to a closer vantage point (700km above the surface). Perhaps in your sim you could alter the point at which you can fade it out? (to my eye it feels like it disappears too soon and maybe a fades a little too quickly too)? Otherwise its looking really good! Well done! I like the transitions from day to night as well.
you’re right! but the atmosphere i made does not fade, and you noticed how quickly it left too. its because its just a plane with a glow texture that is fixed to always be behind the globe. Making it fade at a certain point could be a pain in the ass without code. But i dont have code so ill have to work around it. I thought it would look much better if there was a sun, but i don’t know how to create realistic glow that changes when its hits the earth’s horizon; and I don’t know how to make lens flare. I think these three elements will help the scene. I’ll just have to look into these one at a time, and anymore suggestions are welcome.
hey. nice work done on earth texture. however at that speed the clouds especially, change shape very much. i mean like they twist, spin merge etc. your just look that they are travelling still to every place. and also, clouds that big cast shadows big(if that made sense).
The clouds are a pretty awesome touch. This looks like it could be a great mod for Universe Sandbox. Are you going to do the solar system and move out further, or just end it with this?
Thanks meta. I saw the universe Sandbox and I was surprised the planets are about the same quality as mine :O. I might develop solar systems and add a menu to view each one. Pran the reason they look still is because they are two spheres with still cloud textures rotating at different angles. I couldn’t find an animated map of clouds and sure as shit can’t make one. And in order for these alpha cloud textures to cast textures I’d need a working texture shadow script/shader, because I don’t think blender GE is capable of doing that yet.
