just asking since we had a magnitude 5.5 quake yesterday, and it scared the #&$^# out of me :o . I’ve been in similar quakes and not had a problem, it’s just that some radio astronomer had predicted the “monster quake” (e.g. mag 7 or 8 ) for Tuesday / Wednesday last week, and gave himself a 4 day window either side…
i’ll be there in less than a day. I want an earthquake to happen while im there, but nothing major like that. There is also meant to be a hurricane heading that way very soon. It’s that really big one, but it’s not so big anymore.
It’s less than 5 hours till i have to get up to goto the airport. I prolly should goto bed soon.
cool! weathers not so much fun (bit wet) today, and the typhoon’s on the way, should be here sometime Monday morning last time I heard… but typhoons are normally just a lot of rain and a bit of wind by the time they get to Tokyo so it shouldn’t be a problem.
Hmm i’m waiting for an earthquake here actually. (new Zealand)
should be a good sized one when it comes.
at least 7 we are expecting.
it was in my city that base isolators were invented (the large rubber/lead lwyered things that let buildings move without falling over)
so most of our buildings and even rather small bridges are fitted with them.
our building code i think requires protection for 8-9 on the scale so i guess it should be safe here.
cept our motorway was the same design as the one in kobea (i don’t knwo the spelling but its in japan) but since they all fell down in japan, we have upgraded them with steal jackets to stop the concrete suports shattering.
so yeah hopefully we will be sweet in a big one, and yeah i’m looking forward to the big one in a sick kinda exciting way LOL
if i wasn’t dead i’d pick up my “pick axe” and grab some gloves and head down to do some digging.
no natural diasters expected. no major terorist targets. no poiseness animals (ok theres 1 but theres a cure and theres only been like 2 bites last year). no big scary animals part from me. its all good
all we got is a few dangurous beaches wich are all marked apropriatly. you know sinking sand, rip tides, crumbling cliffs etc etc. but as i say there all marked.
I read the castle in Japan are built like a big jigsaw puzzle, so when a earth do accure it shifts with the vibration of the ground and is the reasion why it’s still up today. If you already have an earthquake there shouldn’t be another one for quite awhile. But since the earthquake happen where you are now there should be another one close by since the stress along the quake line must shift, this is known as a quakestorm and goes accross the globe
