when I was cutting the edge (ie. when i select two edges and subdevide) it create another edge next to the one i subdivide. Why is it… Idotn want that subdivision.
Are there any tool which i can delete the edge only. now if I delete teh edge the etire face is also getting deleted.
Well…if an edge is part of a face, how could you delete the edge while leaving the Face ???
You can select the edge, press Delete and select Edges and Faces : the vertices remain.
Hi gweniv,
Thanks for the reply,
You said true. But some programes like Max and maya support this function. where u can easily "Remove " an edge leaving the face as it is. so I thought if its there something like that kind of utitlity it would be really great!
and another thing which i am having the problem with blnder is when ever i subdivide two edges (smiliar like cut tool in max and maya) it create another edge next to that. Why is it? can u please tell me that? Can i avoid that using some other technique?
regards
Mmmm i dont experience that on my Blender.
I ve tried with 2 parallel running edges (not connected to one another), select them with the edge button on and WKEY -> subdivide and i than have a vertice created in the middle of each edge, but no additionnal edge nearby…
Can you post a pic of this ? i would maybe help to visualise it better
I think Blender doesn’t support N-gons. So every poly has four vertices at most. That’s why there are visible edges added.
Another problem I found is being unable to cut a new edge between existing vertices across a face. So you have to cut next to them and then merge? Also when you move around and the triangulation isn’t ok you have delete the face and draw again.
You might find the Cut Edge Loop (ctrl-r) and Delete Edge Loop (shows up in X after doing an alt-rmb edge select) useful. They probably add more detail than you WANT, but they tend to do it in a controlled manner compared to just subdividing a bit.
Also, you can make fake ngons with ctrl-F if you want to hide icky subdivision areas.
