I’m cutting a hole in a cylindrical mesh using a circle and shrinkwrap modifier. My problem is that I need to create some edge loops along the X axis so I can create faces to delete for the inside of the hole. The whole edge loop thing seems a bit buggy. I can’t delete some of them , others I can. Also when I select vertices of the edge loop inside the circle it selects right down to the end of the cylinder and deletes it all. I want to delete only the faces inside the circle. Any ideas?
BTW I’m on a Mac.
Impossible to give a clear answer given that you’re the only person who knows what your mesh currently looks like and exactly what you want to do with it.
It’s not buggy, it selects the edge loop. This loop may not be what you think it to be or want it to be.
Well I do have edge loops some of which can be deleted and some which cannot for no apparent reason.I have attached the mesh. You’ll notice also that the middle edge loop disappears in Object mode and reappears only in Edit mode with the mesh selected while the others are visible throughout. My real problem here is that when I select vertices within the circle which cross the middle edge loop the entire length of the piece is selected and so will be deleted whereas what I want is to delete only those vertices within the circle.Chanter D2Boriginal.blend (363 KB)
Hi Rivit
Thanks a lot for your comments. The link to Cannedmushrooms is great. I’ll take your advice and go through the whole lot. Hope I’m still sane when I come out the other side.

I notice on your mesh that the hole is flat on the cylindrical face. Is this because you didn’t use a shrinkwrap modifier?
