Edge quality on text bevels ?

Hi folks,

I’m trying to make some wallpapers for our Cakewalk comunity, and Have issues to get the edges of my beveled texts clean, for some reason these show up (see attached image) with noise or aliasing. I tried everything on the bevel side (more or less bevel resolution, etc) also the settings on the rendering are quite high, but don’t seem to be able to adress these edge issues. Can someone help me on this please ?

I used HDRI image for light, and Yafray.

thanks,

Hans

Set the Bevel Depth a little higher, about 0.015.

Hi Fligh,

thanks, but it’s already at 0.020, and I prefer not to have the edge to look too think. I really tried everything, without any improvement, each time I use a material that mirros something, I get this kind of noisy edge in Blender, is this normal ?

thanks,

Hans

That might well be the problem and you could probably fix it either by changing lamp type and settings (like turn off “specular” on your main lamp and use a filler lamp for that instead, or use some low power, negative lamps), or changing the Spec and Ref settings on your Material, or maybe both of the above. Another thing you can try is to render to a bigger resolution and resize it smaller when rendered. Difficult when you say “wallpapers” but maybe you can render in say 4 parts that when put together are 5120X4096 and you can drop that to 1280X1024.

Many thanks Fligh, as I’m using a HDRI image, I’m going to adjust the spec and ref settings on material. I never rendered in different parts, so there may be a start

thanks again,

best,

Hans
