Edit hair particle on a frame after running hair dynamics

How can I use the particle editor on the particle system on a frame that is not frame 1?

On frame 1, I have my hair positioned straight up and I let the physics from the hair dynamics to control the position of the strands as they fall down.

Afterwards, once the hairs have settled, I’d ideally like to be able to comb and cut the hair from that position. However, upon entering particle edit mode, the hair jumps back to its frame 1 position for editing purposes.

Is there a way for me to edit the hair while it’s in a simulated pose?
