Edit mode: selecting verts on two meshes

I’m trying to create a face between the front sides of two cubes. This is a concept that I can’t grasp myself with blender- In edit mode, why can I only select verts on one of the meshes?

I’d like to select verts on both cube meshes. Why can’t I???

It’s a bit of a limitation (to some anyway), and people are hoping multiple object editing will be brought in some day. I don’t personally mind the current system, since you can only edit so much at a time, but I can see where you’re coming from.

Ctrl+J will make one object out of your two - that may not be what you’re looking for, but at least it makes you your face and you can seperate the meshes afterwards with P (in Edit Mode).

Alternatively, you could just make a face with the faces of one end snapped to the vertices of the other object.

Hello thebombmartin.

It is not possible to select elements (vertices, edges, faces) from two separate mesh objects.

In order for you to do that, both the mesh objects must be Joined (CTRL+J after selecting both mesh objects in OBJECT Mode)

Hope that helps.
