Edit wire mode is very dark

The problem is that in edit mode when I pressed the Z key to get the wire mode the colour is very dark. This make it hard to see any objects behind the object I’m working on, and it’s the same when using reference images.
The theme I am using is Dark Ambiance. [Theme] Dark Ambiance: 2.8 Ubuntu Ambiance Theme Update (from original author)
It’s one that I added myself as it wasn’t included with the 2.79b Blender version I recently downloaded. Some of the pre-installed themes also appear quite dark for wire mode in edit mode.

What I am wondering is there a way to change the brightness and or transparency of the wire mode so that I can see the image or objects behind the mesh I am working on.

I guess it’s in user preferences somewhere but I can’t find it.

In case it helps. OS Linux Mint 19, Blender version 2.79b, graphics card Nivida GTX970.

I think this is because of your dark theme… I think so…
I suggest you to use soft blend theme… This may help you and it is also very attractive

User Preferences > Themes > 3D View > Face > Pull down Alfa value

Yes it is because of the theme, thanks for the info.

Cheers, blndrusr. That solved the problem.
