Editing the name of an object in the 'ouline' window

Hi,
I saw more than once in tutorials and elsewhere that the name of an object can be changed in the outline window of Blender.
This can not be done (I can not :slight_smile: ) in my version (2.58.1 of today, W32 Vista) …
There are at least two other places to change the name, so THAT is not the problem.

I am just curious if I miss something, e.g. a compilation option?

Are you using Ctrl+LMB to enable you to rename.
