Performance work in Blender regarding Vulkan hasn’t started yet. So the fact that it might be slower in some cases or use more memory is kind of expected. It will take more time.
Having Vulkan support is a huge benefit. It’s what all the vendors are focusing on now. Also, OpenGL related driver bugs are a pain and impossible to deal with.
