Effecient way to export models

Hi folks,
I’ve got a question…
What is the best way to export in either .obj or .fbx that will retain all of the detail in the modifiers for hard surface models (Organic as well)?
ex. edgesplits, Booleans, lattice, apply modifiers on export or not?
I have had better results exporting to fbx, obj seems to loose the edgesplits in export.
I would appreciate any and all advice here.


You will have to apply modifiers. All those modifiers should work fine in either fbx or obj because they act on the verts themselves once applied.

i must have done somthing wrong then, i’ll give it another try later.
Just seamed weird imported in quixel like it lost hard edges (edge splits)
