Elephant noob

Hi everyone,
I’m a noob in blender and I’m still learning a lot.
I just wanted to post my elephant wip.
Please anyone can tell me what can I do to improve it.
I have to texture it with UV.

I Really like it this way! Unless you weren’t making the most amusing elephant statue or cuddly toy, it’s really cool! It made me laugh, and not at it.

Keep up the funny work, if you want to create a real elephant tho… eh… the legs can use some tweaking because they are too short and you should like, take a look on google for elephants. You can set a background picture in the view menu.

but if I make longer legs it’ll not be that fatty elephant anymore. anyway I think it is impossible to rig in this way. wath do you think?

I can’t tell you that, I’m just beginning to use blender myself. Almost finished my post in the WIP. Wait for someone else. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry, but I have to agree with the previous…If you were going for realism, you have some work to do, but if you were going for a cartoony type character, I wouldn’t change a thing. Nice work!

Good work modeling so far.

The eye could have a specular highlight to make the elephant look more alive.

Is the thing sticking out of its rear a tail or an arrow?
If it’s a tail, it could be rounder at the end.

The trunk could get thinner until it gets to the tip, then it could widen. The trunk looks somewhat like another foot right now.

I like it. Few things. The eyeball may be too far out, and gasp you may have too much detail for the inner ear. toony style should look more smoothed. I love the tiny legs, I can almost see him wobbling down the path.

This guy is great! Yeah it will be trick to rig, but you can get so much chracter out of those tiny legs! He’s like a little toy! Remember how the toy soldiers in Toy Story movie? They just waddled left to right. They had no joints. This guy would move probably with just one bone per leg. Its restrive movement but would look great I think. Pretty easy to rig though. You might want to post wireframes for rigging help.

here they are. the wire.

This is great. I love it. Looks like a cute toy.

Try playing around with the NOR button and see what results you’d get.

Its sooo cute i want to coddle with it

Does it have a problem? It looks like he’s watching a fat man at a buffet.

thaks everybody.
I have a problem with the bump: with yafray I have a good bump output, but with the same texture and parameters I have a bad output with the blender internal renderer.

anybody can help me to get a good bump with blender internal?
thanks guys

Help please :frowning: :frowning:
still the same problem: bump with blender internal renderer is not so good as yafray but yaf is too slow.

haha its cute

Very cute.

Hej då.

Welp… we need some details. Bumps map in YafRay are better than the ones
in Blender Internal, on average. There’s really nothing you can do about it, unless you played with it. But, if you want something good, you’re just going to have to deal with the slow render times. Can’t have something for nothing.

it looks like the texture is applied to Color as well as Normals…

Yes you are right. It seems the texture is applied to color but it is not. That’s the wierd thing.

That’s just a little up.
As you can see the bump effect is really pour. I’m still trying to improve it.
Bye
