Embers of Hope - Fantasy Original Series - A Blender Animated Project

(Update: June 13, 2020)

There’s been something of a big change to the project. I’ve been thought up for a more longer, complex story than just having this as a short film of 22 minutes.

It won’t be enough to tell this story I came up with four days ago. I want to go bigger, and have more freedom with the project than just having it as a short film.

So, from this point on, this will be a high fantasy series, an animated series inspired by both The Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit film trilogies

This is going to be a project I’ll now be spending full-time on. I want this to be finished as much as I want you all to watch it on YouTube. Since just today, I’ve been thinking of turning this to a complete series of several seasons in a 40-minute time.

As I’m doing this, I’ll be able to create a lot more assets and things to the films, and have much more creativity into making them happen.

My goal is to make this an interesting piece of entertainment, and I’ll surely make this happen unlike the other times. This is my promise to you all.

I’ll be writing all of the episodes first, and then draw the storyboards to them, and create animatics of the drawn images with sound and a narrative, and then I’ll be showing them on YouTube after completion.

With this, I’m not sure how long the pre-production will take. But, for now, I’m focusing on the scripts’ writing stage before I rewrite and edit them.

Have no fear, folks! I won’t abandon this project even if I don’t update this topic with the renders of my assets for the scenes for some time. I’m just spending time trying to create them in Blender (which is where I’ll make all three of them in), and once I finish the assets, I’ll post them for sure.

Here on, I’ll be writing on the script for film two, and then it’ll be film three.

…God, this will mean I’ll be using LOTS of paper for the storyboards. But, it’ll be fun. We’ll see until we get there.

Until then, Blender folks!

This is going to be the first sequence in the storyboard from the script of the film. Did this in a short time of seven minutes. Four houses and what should look like a basket of fruit on the other side of the road.

As I said in the post above, I’ll be doing the script and storyboard parts for the film’s pre-production.

Any feedback on this first part of the first sequence is more than welcome. As long it’s constructive, of course.

With this, pre-production is going along the road with the start of the first page of the script.

I’ll see you all in a week’s time once I get more of the script and storyboard done.

Until then, my friends.

I got to write the first page done on the script. I’ll be continuing later in the evening (my time). I’m on page two now, and this is where things get a bit easier to write since the beginning (page one) is a bit of an obstacle for me to get past while doing film script writing.

By Sunday, I’ll get some storyboard done from then on. I only hope to get this right, simple and clean.

That’s it for this update. See you till Sunday, where I’ll show some storyboards while I’m at a family meeting there.

Until then, my friends.

My current storyboard WIP that I’m working on. The road is to be drawn two times (God, this will take some time for me), and then I’ll return to the script writing and get more of the story on the pages.

Constructive feedback is welcome and if you want anything on the story, wait until the animatic is finished with sound and uploaded to YouTube.

I’ll be answering some questions you might have later in the production of the film. Until then, have a happy look on my progress so far.

This is the sword that is going to be in the last ten to fifteen minutes of the first episode of the series’ first season. I did this one within two days.

It is also my first 3D model after EIGHT months of no results in character and building modeling in Blender. I am very proud of myself with having modelled the sword with only a single reference image.

Now it’s off to continue on the script before I lose track of my progress.

Until then.

Here’s the Discord server to the series where I’ll be active on the development of the series.

If you’re interested in joining, just click the link and we can discuss things there. Just in the “General” chatbox that is where you’ll be able to talk about anything as long it’s being respectful and clean.

I hope to see you there!

My current WIP as of now. I’m working on the first “test shot” in the prologue of the first episode in the first season.

I’m going to spend some time drawing these test shots of the animatic, and then create the full animatic with sound and doing some voice tests on the characters in the finished drawn animatic.

For the figures, I just copied and set them in a different position. That’s why there’s 21 figures in the scene. It’s going to take some time drawing the figures with hands, armor, helmets, etc until their “comic” appearances are finished. They are to look like armed Orcs, by the way.

I’ll then import the finished shots in the Video Sequence Editor inside Blender to make the audio sync with the movements the figures are going to do. I just need help with cutting the rather lengthened sound effect I got from the Internet once that time comes.

With that, back to work on it, I guess. I’ll see you all later, my friends.

A very short storyboard test that I made just today. I added a sound effect in it to make it a bit more interesting.

I hope to continue drawing these “test shots” as time go on for the project. Enjoy your viewing of the short test!

This is just a quick update about the project:

I’m going to take a break from it to gather my thoughts and think on what to do. Don’t worry; I’ll get back, refreshed and ready about what I will be doing to it.

For now, it’ll be on a quick hiatus until further notices. It won’t be abandoned, friends! Just a decent break for both the project and myself.

I’ll think through this, I promise you all. I will come back to this some time in the near future (about six months in this year) with a better focus on what I am going to be doing.

I had messaged to a friend of mine about this, and he got me some good points which I agree with him about this. I don’t wanna disappoint you all, but for now, I’m just writing a book about the series until that time comes.

See you until then!
