Emboss text on glass

I have followed this tutorial, so I have a glass full of beer, and I want to emboss some text onto the surface of the glass, similar to the text in this photo

How can I do this?

Note: I am a beginner (Only about a month of using Blender)

Unwrap it, create a height map with the text and maybe a few bottley features. Add a displace modifier with the newly created heightmap, or convert the height map to a normal map.

This is fo engraving glass but I supose if you inverted your Bumpmap texture in gimp it would work.
