Empty: a bug in the representation in the Viewport ?

Hi,

I wanted to make sure this happened to every one before reporting it. It is a very minor bug, or let’s say an “incomplete implementation”.

Create new file.
Add empty.
In the properties panel, slect an image as the representation of your empty: all is fine and dandy.

But now, it is impossible to get rid of this image.
If you chose another representation (arrows for instance), you’ll notice that you won’t get the original “empty” icon in the properties panel, but you’ll always have the image icon.

In the UV editor, the image will be tagged as having a user (no 0 in front of it)

Save the file after having reverted back to the arrows, re-open it and the image is sill here, impossible to get rid of.

There should be a “X” box under empty-> image to unlink it.

Can someone confirm that simple thing so that i can report it ?

Thanks a lot,
Gwen

I just tried it using 2.7 official release on Windows and it seems to work fine. I created and empty. I switched to image. Then I switch back to Plain Axes and the image disappears along with image properties. When I switch to the Image Viewer I can see that the image I chose is still in the list and is not zero users as it should be, however.

I would say there is something funky going on so it probably should be reported.

Sorry Atom, I haven’t made it very clear: yes, in the viewport everything is normal.

But when you switch back to plain axes, does the little icon at the top of the property panel go back to the “empty” symbol ?
Here, the image symbol stays in place, and even the name of the image I used is still displayed at the top of the property panels !

Besides, the image data is not set to 0 users as you found too, so when re-opening the file, it is clutterd with the image file that has been used as image empty.

Same for you ?

Well, it may not be important at all, but i hate such minor annoyances, so i reported it.

Thanks
